1) Transeamus: HT   Mijn favoriete kerstlied.
2) Away in a manger HT is overbekend.
Away in a manger no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay; the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing the baby awakes but little Lord Jesus no crying he makes
I love thee, Lord Jesus. Look down from the sky and stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask the to stay close by me forever and love me, I pray
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care and fit us for heaven to live with the there.

Niet vergeten om door te zingen in de laatste regel van het 2e couplet!;
. Woorden en muziek van John Rutter.
How do you capture the wind over water? How do you count all the stars in the sky?
How do you measure the love of a mother?Or how do you write down a baby's first cry?
refr:
Candlelight, angel light, fire light and star glow shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn
'Gloria, gloria, in excelsis deo' angels are singing 'The Christ child is born'.

Shepherds and wise men will kneel and adore him. Seraphim round him their vigil will keep
Nations proclaim him their Lord and their Saviour, but Mary will hold him and sing him to sleep.
refr.

Find him at Bethlehem laid in a manger, Christ our Redeemer asleep on the hay
Godhead incarnate and hope of salvation, a child and his mother that first Christmas day.
refr.

Zo lang in Frankrijk gewoond ... .

Have you heard the sound of the angel voices, ringing out so sweetly, ringing out so clear?
Have you seen the star shining out so brightly as a sign from God that Christ our Lord is here?
Have you heard the news that they bring from heaven to the humble shepherds who have waited long?
Gloria in excelsis deo, bis. Hear the angels sing their joyful song.

He's come in peace in the winter's stillness like a gentle snowfall in the gentle night
He is come in joy like the  sun at morning filling all the world with radiance and light
He's come in love as the child of Mary in a simple stable we have seen his birth
Gloria ... Hear the angels singing 'Peace on earth'

He'll bring new light to a world in darkness like a bright star shining in the skies above
He will bring new hope to the waiting nations when he comes to reign in purity and love
Let the earth rejoice at the Saviour's coming, let the heavens answer with the joyful morn
Gloria ... Hear the angels singing 'Christ is born'

What is this lovely fragrance wafting like to the scents of flow'rs in spring
Shepherds, o tell us, whence such beauty, hear you not heav'nly caroling?
What is this lovely fragrance wafting ...

What is this light so fair, so tender breaking upon our wond'ring eyes?
Never the morning star so radiant followed his course oér eastern skies
What is this light ...

Shepherds, o haste with eager footsteps seek the Saviour, born today.
Low at his feet we lay our treasure, heart's adoration, love for the aye.
Shepherds, o haste ...

1. Quelle est cette odeur agréable,
bergers, qui ravit tous nos sens?
S'exhale t'il rien de semblable
au milieu des fleurs du printemps?
Quelle est cette odeur agréable
bergers, qui ravit tous nos sens?
2. Mais quelle éclatante lumière
Dans la nuit vient frapper nos yeux
L'astre de jour, dans sa carrière,
Futil jamais si radieux!
Mais quelle éclatante lumière
Dans la nuit vient frapper nos yeux
3. Voici beaucoup d'autres merveilles!
Grand Dieu! qu'entends-je dans les airs?
Quelles voix! Jamais nos oreilles
N'ont entendu pareils concerts.
Voici beaucoup d'autres merveilles!
Grand Dieu! qu'entends-je dans les airs?
4. Ne craignez rein, peuple fidèle
Écoutez l'Ange du Seigneur;
Il vous annonce une merveille
Qui va vous combler de bonheur.
Ne craignez rein, peuple fidèle
Écoutez l'Ange du Seigneur.
5. A Bethléem, dans une crêche
Il vient de vous naitre-un Sauveur
allons, que rien ne vous empâche
D'adorer votre redémpteur
A Bethléem, dans une crêche,
Il vient de vous naître-un Sauveur.

Tekst:
Jammer!
9) O little town of Bethlehem. Hiervan ken ik meer dan een melodie.  Eerst maar eens de tekst:
O, little town of Bethlehem  how still we see the lie
above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light
The fears and hopes of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wandering love
O morning stars together proclaim the birth
and praises sing to God, the king, and peace to men on earth.

O holy child of Bethlehem descend on us we pray
Cast out our sins and enter in. Be born in us today!
We hear the Christmas angels in the great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide in us, o Lord Emmanuel.

10) Go tell it on the mountain is lekker vrolijk.
Refr. Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere (bis) that Jesus Christ is born.

While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night
Behold: throughout the heavens there shone a holy light.

The shepherds feared and trembled when lo, above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Saviour's birth

Down in a lowely manger the humble Christ was born
and brought us God's salvation that bleseed the Christmas morn.

1. Daar is uit ’s werelds duist’re wolken
een licht der lichten opgegaan.
Komt tot zijn schijnsel, alle volken,
en gij, mijn ziele, bid het aan.
Het komt de schaduwen beschijnen,
de zwarte schaduw van de dood.
De nacht der zonde zal verdwijnen,
genade spreidt haar morgenrood.
2. Gij wilt met vrede tot ons komen,
met vreed’ en vrijheid, vreugd en eer.
Het juk is van de hals genomen,
God lof, wij zijn geen slaven meer.
De staf des drijvers ligt verbroken,
aan wie ons hart zich had verkocht,
en ’t wapentuig in brand gestoken
van hem, die onze ziele zocht.
3. Wat heil, een Kind is ons geboren,
een Zoon gegeven door Gods kracht!
De heerschappij zal Hem behoren,
zijn last is licht, zijn juk is zacht.
Zijn naam is wonderbaar, Zijn daden
zijn wond’ren van genâ alleen.
Hij doet ons, hoe met schuld beladen,
verzoend voor ’t oog des Vaders treên.
4. O Vredevorst, Gij kunt gebieden

of

3. Godlof, een kind is ons geboren,
Een held zal onze koning zijn,
De raadsman, God-met-ons zal heten,
Die zoon zal onze vader zijn!
Vorst die met vrede ons wil kronen,
Van nu af tot in eeuwigheid,
De Eeuwige zal Hem doen tronen,
Op recht en op gerechtigheid.
4. Daar is uit 's werelds duist're wolken,
Een licht der lichten opgegaan.
Komt tot Zijn schijnsel, alle volken,
En gij, mijn ziele, bid* het aan.
Het komt de schaduwen beschijnen,
De zwarte schaduw van de dood,
De nacht der zonde zal verdwijnen,
Genade spreidt haar morgenrood.
5. O Vredevorst, Gij kunt gebieden,

Durch alle deine Güte, o princeps gloriae, trahe me post te. (bis)

O Patris caritas; O, nati lenitas! Wir wären all verloren per nostra crimina.

13) Roasting Chestnuts on an open fire HT Nat King Cole.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yule tide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up as Eskimos
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa is on his way: he's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
and every mother's child is gonna spy to see if reindeer really know how to fly!

And so I'm offering you this simple phrase to kids from 1 to 92,
although it's been said many times many ways: Merry Christmas to you!
14) Mrs Santa Claus HT
Who feeds the reindeer all their hay? Who wraps the gifts and packs the sleigh? Who's helping Santa every day? Mrs Santa Claus!
Who keeps his red suit looking nice? Who does he turn to for advice? Who gives the brownies all their spice? Mrs Santa Claus!
She pitter-patters round the workshop the whole year long, amid the happy clatter of the workshop she sings a merry, merry Christmas song.
Who reads the notes from girls and boys? Turns in the order for their toys? Fills all their hearts with wondrous joys? Mrs Santa Claus.
15) Ding dong the Christmas bells are ringing HT is ook van Nat King Cole afkomstig.

Caroling, Caroling, caroling now we go
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling through the snow
Christmas bells are ringing
Joyous voices sweet and clear
Sing the sad of heart to cheer
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Christmas bells are ringing
(Caroling, caroling through the town)
Christmas bells are ringing
(Caroling, caroling up and down)
Oh, Christmas bells are ringing
(Mark ye well the song we sing)
(Gladsome tidings now we bring)
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Christmas bells are ringing
(Caroling, caroling now we go)
It's Christmas
(Joyous voices sweet and clear)
(Sing the sad of heart to cheer)
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Oh, caroling, caroling through the town
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling up and down
Christmas are ringing
Mark thee well the song that we sing
Gladsome tidings now we bring
Ding, dong, ding, dong
Christmas bells are ringing
Oh, caroling (caroling, caroling)
We're caroling
(Caroling, caroling)
Through the town here we go
(Caroling, caroling)
And there's lots of our voices to cheer
(Caroling, caroling)
Sweet and clear
Bells are ringing so fine
It's a wonderful time of the year
Far and near
Oh caroling....
16) Nog een Ding dong, nl een die gevolgd wordt door merrily on high HT the Christmas bells are ringing.
Ding dong merrily on high in heaven the bells are ringing.
Ding dong verily the sky is riven with angels singing (gloria etc)
Evenso here below, below, let steeple bells be swungen
and, io,io,io, by priests and people sungen (gloria)
Pray you dutifully prime your matin prime
ye ringers, may you beautifully rime
your eventide song ye singers (gloria)

Geef in onze levensdagen

Clear in the darkness a light shines in Bethlehem Angels are singing, their sound fills the air
Wise men have journeyed to greet their Messiah; but only a mother and baby lie there.
Refr
'Ave Maria,2,' hear the soft lullaby the angel hosts sing. 'Ave Maria,2, maiden and mother of Jesus our King'.

Where are his courtiers and who are his people? Why does he have neither sceptre nor crown?
Shepherds his courtiers, the poor for his people. with peace as his sceptre and love for his crown.
Refr

What though your treasures are not gold or incense? Lay them before him with hearts full of love.
Praise to the Christ child and praise to his mother who bore us a Saviour by grace from above.
refr

Come, they told me (pa rum pum pum pum): a newborn king to see, our finest gifts we bring, to lay before the king ...
Little baby (pa etc) I am a poor boy too: I have no gift to bring that's fit to give a king. Shall I play for you?
Mary nodded (pa etc), the ox and lamb kept time. I played my drum for Him, I played my best for him.
Then he smiled at me (pa etc) me and my drum.
20) Stille nacht.
  Nederlands

Stille nacht, heilige nacht, alles slaa pt, sluimert zacht.

L'espérance a reluit
Le sauveur de la terre est né
C'est à nous que Dieu l'a donné
Célébrons ses louanges
Gloire au verbe incarné.

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
'Yesu 'mwana 'mzuri. (Heilige nacht. Velen slapen, alleen Jozef is wakker ...)
Usiku mtakatifu!

Tekst Engels:

Once in royal David's city stood a lowly cattle shed where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed
Mary was that mother mild, Jezus Christ her little child.

He came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all, and His shelter was a stable and His cradle was a stall:
With the poor and mean and lowely lived on earth our Saviour holy.

For He is our childhood's pattern, day by day like us He grew; He was little, weak and helpless, tears and smiles like us He knew.
And He cares when we are sad and He shares when we are glad.

And our eyes at last shall see Him through his own redeeming love; for that Child so dear and gentle is our Lord in heaven above
And He leads his children on to the place where He is gone.

Tekst Nederlands:

'A partridge in a pear tree' is al tamelijk zot.
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me: a partridge in a pear tree.
On the second day of Christmas  ... :two turtle doves & a partridge ...
On the 3rd day ...: three French hens ...
On the 4th day ...: four calling birds ...
On the 5th day ...: five gold rings ...
On the 6th day ...: six gees a-laying ...
On the 7th day ...: seven swans a-swimming ...
On the 8th day ...: eight maids a-milking ...
On the 9th day ...: nine ladies dancing ...
On the 10th day ...: ten lords a-leaping ...
On the 11th day ...: eleven pipers piping ...
On the 12th day ...: twelve drummers drumming
The most wonderfull birthday of all is a birthday we'll always remember: when a baby was born a beautiful one on a day .... in December .....
Ring all the bells all over the world and praise the One above, ring all the bells all over the world and bring Him the gift of our love.

.......... glory and the angels above told the world of His love and the sound of this wonderful story
Ring all the bells etc

The most wonderful birthday of all  ... that brings us together to praise and to claim His glorious name for the love that He gave us forever
Ring all the bells etc

Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the holy bible say, Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas day.
Hark, now hear the angels sing: a new king born today! And man will live forevermore because of Christmas day.

While shepherds watch sheir flock by night them see a bright new shing star and hear a choir sing,  the music seemed to come from afar.
Hark ...

So Jeoseph and his wife Mary came to Bethlehem that night. Them find no place to born she child, not a single room was in sight.
Hark ...

By and by them find a little nook, in a stable all forlorn; and in a manger cold and dark Mary's little boy was born.
Hark ...

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, (ring-a-ling) hear them ring (ting-a-ling)
Soon it will be Christmas day
City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you hear
Silver bells, (silver bells) silver bells (silver bells)
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, (ring-a-ling)
Hear them ring, (hear them ring)
Soon it will be Christmas day
Strings of street lights, even stoplights
Blinkin' bright red and green
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures
Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch
This is Santa's big day
And above all this bustle you hear Silver bells…

Bij het begin van de nachtmis hoort
27) Wij komen tezamen of liever Adeste fideles. Lo, he abhors not ... very God, begotten ... gaan b.v. niet heel goed op de melodie.
Tekst 1, katholiek:

Latijnse tekst:
Adeste fideles, laeti triumphantes, venite, venite, in Bethlehem. Natum videte, regem angelorum: venite adoremus, bis, bis, bis, Dominum.
Cantet nunc hymnos, chorus angelorum. cantet nunc aula caelestium, gloria bis in excelsis Deo: venite  ...

Engelse tekst:
Oh come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant, oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethelem. Come and behold Him,, born the king of angels! oh come let us adore Him bis. bis. bis, Christ the Lord.
God of God, light of light, Lo! he abhors not the virgin's womb. Very God, begotten not created. Refr
See how the shepherds summoned to his cradle, leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear. We too wil thither bend our joyful footsteps. Refr.

Each child born be named with love. For each child's name a star above. So let my name be known, oh, let my given name be known.
:Jezus
Each child's home is all the world, for each child's name is more than pearls. So let my name bear fame. oh let my given name bear fame.
Each child's comes, a flame of light. Let each child own a name. birthright. So let my name be a flame, of let my give name be flame.
Kyrië-eleis.
30) Quem pastores laudavere HT zit vandaag in mijn hoofd.
Quem pastores laudavere quibus angeli dixere 'Absit vobis iam timere natus est rex gloriae'.
Ad quem magi ambulabant aurum, thus, myrrham potabant, immolabant haec sincere nato regi gloriae.
Christo regi, Deo nato, per Mariam nobis dato, merito resonet vere, laus, honor et gloria.

Elke regel is één couplet.

Nunc angelorum gloria hominibus resplenduit in mundo. Novi partus gaudia virgo mater produxit, et sol verus in tenebris illuxit.

In the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow on snow had fallen, snow on snow, on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter, long ago.
Our God, heaven cannot hold him nor can earth sustain; heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.

In the bleak mid-winter a stable-place sufficed
the Lord God almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for him whom cherubim worship night and day,
a breastful of milk, a mangerful of hay;
enough for him whom angels fall down before,
the ox and ass and camel which adore.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
cherubim and seraphim thronged in the air;
but only his mother in her maiden bliss
worshipped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give him poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb;
if I were a wise man I would do my part.
Yet what I can give him: give my heart.

32) A Child This Day is Born HT Niet eerder gehoord.
1. A child this day is born, a child of high renown, most worthy of his sceptre, a sceptre and a crown:

Refr.: Nowell bis bis bis, sing all we may, because the king of all kings was born this blessed day.

2.These tidings shepherds heard in field watching their fold, were by an angel unto them that night revealed and told.
3.To whom the angel spoke, saying: 'Be not afraid; be glad, poor silly shepherds, why are you so dismayed?
4.'For lo! I bring thee tidings of gladness and of mirth, which cometh to all people by this holy infant's birth.
5. Glory be unto our God, that sitteth still on high, with praises and with triumph great and joyful meldoy.
6. And as the angel told them, so to them did appear; they found the young child Jesus Christ with Mary his mother dear

Ach, of men toch minder hardvochtig hun waar'!

35) Welcome, child of Mary. HT
Welcome, child of Mary, coming from afar, on earth with us to sojourn beneath thy star.
From heavens' glory thou in grace dost now descend knowing all our story and become our friend.
Kyrie eleis
Shepherds on the hillside saw a heavenly light and heard the angels'song 'He is born this night.
Fear not' was their message, 'now to David's city go, seek God in a manger, as yonder star will show. K.e.

There to pay their tribute come three eatern kings, sweet gifts of gold and spices now each one brings
Kneeling they adore him, as their earthly crowns they bow Majesty saluting before a manger low. K.e.

'Kyrie eleison', Christmas Babe we sing, with 'Kyrie eleison' we greet our king
Pray we to the holy infant he will bless our way; 'Kyrie eleison' in all the world we say: K.e.

St st, st st, st zacht, welterusten lief kindje, goede nacht.
Feliz navidad, bis, bis bis, prospero año y felicidad. I wish you a merry Christmas bis, bis, bis, from the bottom of my heart.
40) A virgin most pure. HT 7 coupletten maar liefst! Lekker rammelend van tekst, aardige melodie. Uit 1834 en gezongen door de Stairwell Carollers.
A virgin most pure, as the prophets do tell hath brought forth a baby, as it hath befell
To be our redeemer from death, hell and sin which Adam's transgression has wrapped us in.
refr: Aye and therefore be merry, rejoice and be you merry, set sorrows aside: Christ Jesus our Saviour was born on this tide.

At Beth'lem in Jewry a city there was, where Joseph and Mary together did pass,
And there to be taxed with many one mo', for Caesar commanded the same should be so.  Refr.

But when they had entered the city so fair a number of people so mighty was there
that Joseph and Mary, whose substance was small, could find in the inn there no lodging at all. Refr.

Then they were constrained in a stable to lie where oxen and asses they used for to tie.
Their lodging so simple, they held it no scorn but against the next morning our Saviour was born. Refr.

The King of all glory to the world being brought, small store of fine linen to wra him was sought;
And when she had swaddled her young Son so sweet, within an ox-manger she laid him to sleep. Refr.

Then God sent an angel from heaven so high to certain poor shepherds in the field s where they lie
and bade them in sorrow no longer to stay because that our Saviour was born on this day. Refr.

Then presently after the shepherds did spy a number of angels that stood in the sky
They joyfully talked and sweetly did sing to God be all glory, our heavenly King. Refr.

41) Rejoice and be merry van John Rutter, gezongen door Missisauga's Choir HT
Rejoice and be merry in songs and in mirth, oh praise our Redeemer, all mortals on earth
For this is the birthday of Jesus our King who brought us salvation his praises we'll sing.

A heavenly vision appeared in the sky: vast numbers of angels the shepherds did spy
proclaiming the birthday of Jesus our King who brought us salvation his praises we'll sing.

Likewise a bright star in the sky did appear which led the wise men from the east to draw near
They found the Messiah, sweet jesus our King who brought us salvation his praises we'll sing.

And when they were come with their treasures unfold and unto him offered myrrh, incense and gold
So blessed forever dear Jesus our King who brought us salvation his praises we'll sing.

42) While shepherds watched their flocks by night HT Gezongen door King's College Choir in een kerstdienst.

While shepherds watched their flocks by night all seated on the ground the angel of the Lord came down and glory shone around

'Fear not', he said, for mighty dread had seized their troubled minds 'Glad tidings of great joy I bring to you and all mankind.'

To you in Davids'town this day is born of David's line a Saviour who is Christ the Lord and this shall be his sign:

The heavenly babe you there shall find to human view displayed and meanly wrapped in swaddling bands and in a manger laid.

Thus spake the seraph and forthwith appeared a shining throng of angels praising God who thus addresed their joyful song.

All glory be to God on high and to the earth be peace. Goodwill henceforth from heaven above to men begin and never cease.

43) What sweeter music John Rutter, uitgevoerd door St Olaf Chapel Choir. Holly and ivy is zo'n vaste combinatie in Engelse carols ...
What sweeter music can we bring than a carol for to sing the birth of this our heav'nly King? Awake the voice. awake the string! Dark and dull night fly hence away and give the honour to this day that sees December turn'd to May. Bis.
Why does the chilling winter's morn smile like a field beset with corn or smell like a meadow newly shorn thus on the sudden? Come and see the cause why things thus fragrant be. 'Tis he is born whose quick'ning birth gives life and lustre - public mirth - to heaven and the under earth.
We see him come and know him ours who with his sunshine and his showers turns all the patient ground to flowers Bis. The darling of the world is come and fit it is we find a room to welcome him (bis). The nobler part of all the house here is the heart which we will give him and bequeath this holy/holly? and this ivy wreath to do him honour who's our king and Lord of all this revelling.
What sweeter music can we bring than a carol for to sing the birth of this our heav'nly king. Mmmm...
The virgin Mary had a baby boy (bis, bis) and they say that his name was Jesus.
He come from the glory, he come from the glorious kingdom, o yes! believer.

The angels sang when the baby born (bis, bis) and proclaim him the saviour Jersus. He come etc

The wise men went where the baby born (bis, bis) and they say that his name was Jesus. He come etc

Wonderlijk tekst, elke regel is één couplet. Volgens Google is het heel oud, 15e eeuw!
There is no rose of such virtue as the rose that bare Jesu; alleluia.
For in this rose contained was heaven and earth in little space; alleluia
'By that rose we may well see that he is God in persons three, pari forma.
The angels sungen the shepherds to: gloria in excelsis deo, gaudeamus.
Leave this worldly mirth and follow we this joyful birth, transeamus.
Alleluia, res miranda, pares forma, gaudeamus, transeamus.
46) I saw three ships come sailing by HT Gezongen door Thea Ekker in een arrangement van Joop Stokkermans.
I saw three ships come sailing by on Christmas day, on Christmas day (bis) I saw three ships ... on Xmas day in the morning
And who would be on those three ships on Xmas day, on Xmas day (bis)  and who ...  in the morning
But Joseph and his fair lady, on Xmas day, on Xmas day (bis) but Joseph ... in the morning.
And all the bells on earth did ring on Xmas day, on Xmas day (bis) ... 9n the morning.

HT Sting heeft andere passagiers aan boord: Our saviour Christ and his lady!
47) Coventry carol HT  Een droevig liedje in mineur.
Lullay, lulla, thou little tiny child, by, by lully, lullay. (bis)
O sisters, too, how may we do for to preserve this day; this poor youngling for whom we sing, by, by lully llulay
Herod the King, in his raging charged he hath this day, his men of might in his own sight all children young, to slay
Then woe is me, poor child for Thee and ever mourn and say for Thy parting nor say nor sing, by, by, lully lullay
48) Resonet in laudibus HT
Resonet in laudibus, cum jucundis laudibus, David cum fidelibus (Sion cum fidentibus): apparuit apparuit quem genuit Maria. *)
Natus est Emmanuel, quem praedixit Gabriel, testis est Ezechiel: apparuit etc
Pueri concintnite nato fegi psallite, voce pia dicite: apparuit etc **)
**) Sion lauda Dominum saluarum hominu purgatorem criminu apparuit ...
It came upon a midnight clear that glorious song of old;
From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold
'Peace on earth goodwill to men, from heaven's all-gracious King!'
The world in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they come with peaceful wings unfurled
and still their heavenly music floats o'er all the weary world;
above its sad and lowely plains they bend on hovering wing
and never o'er its Babel sounds the blessed angels sing.

Yet with the woes of sin and strife the world has suffered long;
beneath the angel-strain have rolled two thousand years of wrong.
And man, at war with man, hears not the lovesong which they bring.

O hush the noise,ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing.
And ye, beneath life's crushing load, whose forms are bending low,
who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow:
take heart: for comfort, love and hope come swiftly on the wing.
O rest beside the weary road and hear the angels sing.

For lo, the days are hastening on that prophets knew of old;
and with the ever circling years comes round the day foretold.
May peace on earth in every land in joy and healing bring
and the whole world send back the sond which now the angels sing.
When blossoms flower e'er 'mid the snows,
Upon a winter night,
Was born the child, the Christmas rose,
The king of love and light.
The angels sang, the shepherds sang,
The grateful earth rejoiced;
And at his blessed birth the stars
Their exultation voiced.

Chorus:
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore him
O come let us adore him
Christ the lord.
Again the heart with rapture glows
To greet the holy night,
That gave the world it's Christmas rose,
Its king of love and light
Let ev'ry voice acclaim his name,
The grateful chorus swell
From paradise to earth he came
That we with him might dwell.
51) I wonder as I wander, een kerstliedje in mineur. HT Het Leyden English Choir zong het ook.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Saviour did come for to die
For poor on'ry people like you and like I;
I wonder as I wander out under the sky

When Mary birthed Jesus 'twas in a cow's stall
With wise men and farmers and shepherds and all
But high from God's heaven, a star's light did fall
And the promise of ages it then did recall.

If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing
A star in the sky or a bird on the wing
Or all of God's Angels in heaven to sing
He surely could have it, 'cause he was the King

I wonder as I wander out under the sky
How Jesus the Saviour did come for to die
For poor on'ry people like you and like I
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
52) Have yourself a merry little Christmas HT   van nog steeds dzelfde CD.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on your troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on your troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
They gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now
53) All I want for Christmas is you.   HT Vrolijk liedje, gezongen door Mariah Carey.
I don't want a lot for Christmas, just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents underneath the Xmas tree
I just want you for my own more than you could ever know
Make my wish come true: all I want for Xmas is you.

I dont'want a lot for Xmas, just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents underneath the Xmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking there upon the fire place
Santa Claus won't make me happy with a toy for Xmas day
I just want you for my own etc

I won't ask for much this Xmas I don't even wish for snow
I just gonna keep on wishing underneath the mistletoe
I won't make a list and send it to the north pole for St Nick
I won't stay even awake and listen to hear those magic reindeer click
Cause I want you here tonight holding onto me so tight
What more can I do, baby, all I want for Xmas is you

All the lights are shining brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's laughter  fills the air
And everyone is singing I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa, won't you bring me the one thing I really need
Won't you please bring my baby to me?

Oh, I don't want a lot for Xmas. This is all I am asking for:
I just want to see my baby standing right outside my door
I just want you for my own. More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true: all I want for Xmas is you!

**) of: 'w'u mogen maken'.
 56) Balulalow. Benjamin Britten. In oud Engels. Hert = heart; sweit = sweet; creddil = cradle; spreit = spirit en balulalow = lullaby. HT
O my dear hert, young Jesu sweit, prepare thy creddil in thy creddil in my spreit aand I sall rock thee  to my hert and never mair from thee depart

But I sall praise thee evermoir with sanges sweit unto thy gloir the knees of my heart sall I bow sall I bow

And sing that richt Balulalow (bis) Balulalow and sing that richt Balulalow. Lulalow, Lula, Lulalow.

 57) Three kings of the orient HT in een uitvoering van Rutter.
We three kings of the orient are bearing gifts we traverse afar, field & fountain, moor & mountain, following yonder star. Refrein: O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light.
Born a king on Bethlehem plain; gold I bring to crown Him again, king forever, ceasing never, over us all to reign. refr:
Frankincense to offer I have, incense owns a Deity nigh, prayer and praising, all men raising, worship Him, God most high. refr.
Myrrh is mine: its bitter perfume breathes of life of gathering gloom, sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, sealed in de stone cold tomb refr
Glorious now behold him arise: King & God and sacrifice, alleluia alleluia, earth to heaven replies. refr.

HT

The angel Gabriel from heaven came , his wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame 'All hail' said he 'thou lowly maiden Mary most highly favoured lady, 'Gloria, gloria'.
'For known a blessed mother thou shalt be; all generations laud and honour thee, thy son shall be Emanuel, by seers fortold! Most favoured maid. 'Gloria, gloria'.
Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head "To me be as it pleases God' she said 'my soul shall laud and magnify His holy name' Most favoured lady. 'Gloria, gloria'.

60) All my heart this night rejoices. HT
All my heart this night rejoices as I hear, far and near, sweetest angels voices: 'Christ is born' their choirs are singing till the air ev'rywhere now with joy is ringing.
Hark! a voice from yonder manger, soft and sweet, doth entreat: 'Flee from woe and danger! Brethern come! from all doth grieve you you are freed; all you need I will surely give you.
Come then let us hasten yonder! Here let all, great and small. kneel in awe and wonder! Love him who with love is yearning! Hail the star that from afar bright with hope is burning!
Thee, dear Lord, with heed I cherish, live to thee and with thee, dying shall not perish; but shall dwell with thee forever, far on high, in the joy that can alter never.

61) Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yule tide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody  knows a turkey and some mistletoe help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa is on his way, he's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother is gonna spy to see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I am offering you this simple phrase to kids from one to ninety-two
Allthough it's been said any times, many ways: 'Merry Xmas to you'.

62) So this is Christmas John Lennon HT
So now this is Christmas and what have we done?
Another year over and a new one just begun

And so this is Christmas we hope you have fun
The dear and the near ones, the old and the young

A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one without any fear

(War is over ...)

And so this is Christmas for weak and for strong
for rich and for poor ones the world is all wrong

And so happy Chrstmas for black and for white
For yellow and red ones let's stop all the fight.

Ere zij God etc. ...
